There are a lot of software applications for creating art, incluidng Adobe Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Autodesk SketchBook, Corel Painter, Corel Painter Essentials, ArtRage Studio and Anime Studio. All of these are optimized to work with the Wacom pen–which means that they integrate pen recognition and pressure sensitivity, optimize brush controls, and bring out unique features in the software that you’ll never see without a Wacom pen tablet plugged in.
